When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.－Matthew 6:3
Idon’t know about you, but I tend to enjoy getting credit when I do stuff for others. And I don’t think I’m alone in appreciating thank you cards and words of gratitude.
I also know, however, that there’s something to be said or anonymity. This must be a good way to give, because Jesus endorsed it.
That’s why I was impressed with a gift that arrived anonymously on our front porch one day. We had been out of town; and when we returned, there stood several flower pots.each holding a blooming sunflower. We knew the reason. they were left on our doorstep on the birthday of our late daughter, Melissa, who loved sunflowers. Someone was telling us, “We remember Mell.” By giving anonymously, they focused completely on our family rather than on themselves.
Imagine a world in which we all gave generously and selflessly. Jesus entioned secret giving in Matthew 6. He said, “When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret” (vv.3-4).
Realistically, we can’t always give anonymously. But our giving should always be marked with the same spirit of selfless humility and God-directed charity. －Dave Branon |

너는 구제할 때에 오른손의 하는 것을 왼손이 모 르게 하여－마태복음 6:3
여러분은 어떤지 모르겠지만, 나는 남을 위해 뭔가를 하고 나서 칭찬을 들으면 기분이 좋아집니다. 감사카드를 받거나 감사하다는 말을 듣고 좋아하는 사람이 나 혼자만은 아닐 것입니다.
그렇지만, 나는 아무도 모르게 도와야 할 경우가 있다는 것을 알고 있습니다. 예수님께서 그렇게 말씀하셨으니 다른 사람을 도우려면 그렇게 하는 것이 바람직한 방법이 틀림없습니다.
언젠가 우리 집 현관 앞에 이름을 안 밝히고 놓고 간 선물에 내가 감동을 받았던 것이 바로 그 때문입니다. 한동안 집을 비웠다가 돌아와 보니, 활짝 핀 해바라기를 한포기씩 심은 화분이 여러 개 놓여 있었습니다. 우리는 왜 그 사람들이 죽은 딸 멜리사의 생일날에 그 아이가 좋아했던 해바라기를 문 앞에 놓고 갔는지 짐작이 갔습니다. 누군가 “멜리사를 기억하고 있습니다.”라는 말을 우리 가족에게 전하려고 했던 것입니다. 그들은 이름을 밝히지 않음으로써 자신들보다는 우리 가족에게 전적으로 초점을 맞추었습니다.
모든 사람이 아낌없이, 사심 없이 주는 세상을 상상해 보십시오. 예수님은 마태복음 6장에서 은밀한 구제에 대해 말씀하셨습니다. “너는 구제할 때에 오른손의 하는 일을 왼손이 모르게 하여 네 구제함이 은밀하게 하라”(3-4절).
현실적으로는 항상 남모르게 도울 수만은 없습니다. 하지만 남을 도울 때에는 언제나 하나님께서 베푸시는 것과 같이 사랑으로 해야 하며 사심 없는 겸손함의 정신으로 해야 합니다. |

나누는 삶이란
내가 가지고 있는 것의 일부를 그것이 필요한 사람에게 주면서 사는 삶이다.
나는 무엇을 가지고 있는가? 하나님께서 나에게 무엇을 주었는가?
돈: 약간, 경험: 여러가지, 시간: 많이
하나님께서 내게 주신 것을 이웃과 나누며 살다가 가고 싶다. |
